Propitiation
Definitions → P → Propitiation
1. the strange manifestation of the individual attempting to buy off the imagined danger by propitiation. Cases which are far down on the tone scale will, when they reach 1 .0, quite commonly offer the auditor presents and attempt to do things for him. (SOS, p. 57)
2. propitiation is an apathy effort to hold away a dangerous “source” of pain. To nullify the possible anger of a person perhaps long since dead but living now again in a partner, is the hope of propitiation. (DMSMH, p. 309)
3. this conciliation is an effort to feed or sacrifice to an all destructive force. (DMSMH, p. 307)
